This week on Inside Our Sugar Walls, a tribute to the female athletes competing in the Olympic Games. Or as Bowling4Dollars put it, “What lesbians think about when they aren’t having sex”. HA! ~Ed.

I know that all of you gals are in a tizzy about Michael Phelps and his Superman type body, but for the gals who like gals, there is something to be said about the female form at the Olympics. We all know about Dara Torres and her amazing bod, and how hot Jennie Finch and Amanda Beard are – but I want to show ya’ll some lesser known gals who you need to know. Cause they are HAWT.

From gymnastics to swimming and everything in between, like volleyball and cycling, I present my lesbian-approved list of the ten hottest female athletes in the 2008 Olympics. Now some of the gals are gay, and some of ‘em aren’t. But they are all gorgeous and drool-worthy in their own way, and all of these women make the Olympics much more fun to watch. Oh my.

10. Laure Manaudou – this French swimmer couldn’t be more adorable. The 21 year old holds world records in the 200 Free and 400 Free. She was the first French female swimmer to win Olympic gold when she captured the 400 m freestyle title in Athens four years ago. But this time around, she’s had tougher competition and hasn’t fared so well in Beijing. But she’s still a champion and a hottie to boot. She’s also got that hip tattoo you bitches love.

9. Bia And Branca Feres

Brazilian synchronized swimming twins Bia and Branca Feres are hotties. There’s relatively little else about these two except that they may or may not be 19. At least we think they are legal.

8. I would be remiss is I didn’t mention Italian volleyball hottie Francesca Piccinini. She’s 6’1″ which is perfect for both a volleyball player as well as a supermodel. This gal could be either. As far as volleyball, she will beat you down and has led Italy to becoming one of three unbeaten teams so far in Beijing.

And she also has a hip tattoo, bitches.

7. Romy Tarangui – Little info is available on Romy, but she’s a German Judo competitor. Romy and three of her fellow countrywomen have posed for German Playboy, so get on ebay and troll for an issue if you want to see more.

6. Logan Tom. I know everyone is rooting for Kerri Walsh and Misty May-Treanor in the beach volleyball – and that those two are subjects of many a lesbian fantasy. But good lord, there’s Logan Tom. She’s on the indoor US volleyball team, but she’s also played on the US Beach volleyball team. Me-ow!

5. USA Soccer Team goalie Hope Solo. This cutie has had some tough times. A year ago, she was the starting goalie on the US Women’s soccer team. She was at the World Cup in China, honoring the memory of her father, Jeffrey, her first coach, who had died a few months before of heart failure. Before each World Cup game, she spread some of his ashes in front of the goal she was defending. Then her coach benched her for Brianna Scurry right before the US played Brazil and she bad-mouthed that decision. Fast-forward to 2008, and that coach has been replaced and Solo is on fire. Earlier today, Solo saved a goal against Canada that gave the US a 2-1 victory. She can save me anytime.

4. Natasha Kai – Natasha is an out and proud lesbian who’s also the resident hottie on the US Women’s soccer team. Just a few hours ago, Kai headed in an extra time goal, giving the defending champion United States a spot in the Olympic women’s soccer semifinal with a 2-1 victory over Canada.

And I know ya’ll like those hip tattoos, so here’s another shot of Natasha.

3. Stephanie Rice. The Australian swimmer is all of 20, and she’s the world record holder in the 200m and the 400m. She’s also collected three golds so far in Bejing. She’s recently parted from fellow Australian swimmer and 50m freestyle world record holder Eamon Sullivan; they ended their 2 year relationship in July 2008, just prior to the Beijing Olympics. But not before they posed for ads for Aussie underwear maker Davenport. But now ladies, she’s single and lonely.

2. USA Softball Team catcher Lauren Lappin. This hottie is 24, and played collegiate at Stanford, and was an alternate to the 2004 U.S. National team. She credits openly bisexual teammate Vicky Galindo with her coming out. We’re glad to finally have her on our team.

1. And my number one – <sigh> – Gro Hammerseng (right).

Gro is a Norwegian handball player. She is currently the captain of the Norway women’s national handball team, and plays club handball for Danish club Ikast-Bording.

She made her national team debut in 2000. She has led Norway to two consecutive victories in the European Women’s Handball Championship, in 2004 and 2006, being voted the tournament’s most valuable player both times. As of 30 March 2008, she has played 135 games for Norway, scoring 540 goals.

She is in a long-term relationship with fellow Ikast and Norway player Katja Nyberg. (see photo) Aren’t they adorable?

So, who’s your favorite? Did I miss anyone you think is hot?
